I'm a born-and-raised Southerner, as are my parents, their parents, and even most of their parents' parents. Texas, Arkansas, North Carolina - we've got South running strong in our veins, and it oftentimes comes out of our mouths! I never thought much about it till moving to Atlanta, a veritable melting pot of people from all over the US (including my sweet hubby, a Californian raised by an Oklahoman mama). Here, I've realized, there are a few tried-and-true Southernisms that cause confused looks and raised eyebrows. Not that it'll stop me from saying them - you can't take the South outta the girl!
Here are a few Southern starter phrases! Do you use any of these? I'm hoping to turn this into a little series so comment below (or on my Instagram) to let me know what your favorite Southernisms are! (Scroll to the bottom for a printable version!)
